MC Hammer was at one point in time the biggest rap artist on the planet. Now two decades later, MC Hammer is probably more famous for his tax issues – which seem to be never ending. It goes to show you, the Internal Revenue Service doesn’t quit when it comes to getting their money.
The IRS has slapped MC Hammer with ANOTHER huge tax bill. The rapper allegedly owes the IRS $1.4 million in penalties and interest for taxes owed in 1996.
If anyone recalls, MC Hammer, whose real name is Stanley Burrell, filed for bankruptcy in 1996, and thought he paid off his tax debt when he ponied up millions in 2007. But Uncle Sam disagrees and has sent him a bill for penalties and interest.
Currently, Mr. Burrell has filed legal pleadings against the IRS asking a judge to block the IRS from collecting because of “basic principles of fairness” – yeah, good luck with that.
